One of the main undercurrent's of the Liberal Party message against the Conservatives has been their inference of Harper's ties to American style politics. It's hard to imagine a party such as the Liberals holding any sort of credibility on the matter of Canadian sovereignty, but nevertheless they plug away at the "All Canadians are Liberals at heart" scheme.

What's becoming clear now is that while the Conservatives perhaps engage primarily in American style policy, the Liberals are now engaging in American-style politics.

Conservative MP Maxime Bernier is now being targetted on account of his ex-girlfriend's possible ties to the Hell's Angels. Keep in mind I have no sympathy for Bernier, and I don't wish to portrait him undue empathy or concern. What's clear is that something which has no meaning to the public interest, and an MP's personal and private life is now becoming fodder for political attacks in the race to the bottom of Canadian politics. If you are reminded by Clinton's attempts to smear Obama for his association with a radical priest, it's because it's the exact same form of low-politics. Even worse is now our American-style gutter media has made this front page content.

Gilles Duceppe has jumped on the wrong bandwagon, and it is all too clear his life-long political narrative is beginning to loose readership. Sadly he has intrigued people for years as a political leader, only now to fade away with these embarrassingly shabby exchanges.

There is nothing to see here, this is a waste of time-- that much should be obvious. What's not as obvious is how petty the political posturing has become in Ottawa. Bush One and Bush Two (Harper and Dion) have nothing left to say about issues that really matter and have started to paw at each other like two cats tired from fighting all day.
